As the Coffee Cake...

Crumbles. Well, it happens sometimes. Baking just doesn't work out. The entire cake fell, and although the gooey mess tasted pretty good, I had to toss it.

I won't mention any names, but I did take a chance by getting the recipe out of a non-cooking magazine that had a beautiful illustration of coffee cake. However, I do not think the rendering resembled the finished cake at all.

It could of course be all my fault. Was the oven heated properly? Did I leave it in long enough? Who knows. The Small Fry Crafts Team scrambled to find a new, top-rated recipe via the internets (we use www.allrecipes.com a lot, because normal everyday people give honest opinions and tweaks on the recipes featured). The bakery shall try again tomorrow.

All was not lost, however. There were a few ramekins of leftover panna cotta, and lovely blueberries to top it all off. And that was good enough for the evening.
