Prep Work

The Small Fry Crafts Team is involved with a Book Club. 

And this particular Book Club seems to have somehow morphed into a Foodie Club, equal parts both literature and food (or maybe mostly food?). In honor of Junot Diaz, the last meeting was a delicious treat of delectable and difficult to make goodies such as chile rellenos and flan (flan, for goodness sake!) courtesty of L and J.

This weekend the meeting will be held at Team Headquarters. We have been reading Sarah Vowell's The Wordy Shipmates, although the food will have nothing to do with Puritans, John Cotton, or any of the numerous folk involved whose last names start with the letter "W"

(Winthrop, Wilson, blah blah blah).

 

In preparation for tomorrow is chocolate ganache...

...and caramel, both cooling to be placed in a special cake for tomorrow.

(I'm beginning to wonder if I should have opened that small cupcake stand that I used to semi-joke about 7 years ago, before the whole thing got out of control. Ah, well. Too late. I definitely missed that boat.)
